Happy Birthday d1

My 'little' boy turned 6 years old this past week. It's crazy to even write that. In some ways, it seems as though it has gone so fast yet it feels like he's always been in my life. And he's going to first grade?

This year we decided to split the birthday parties up for the June birthday boys and give them their own. Great idea. Because we have no major events going on in our lives.....just selling and buying of homes. Oh well. So we decided that each year, one boy gets to have a 'destination' party and the other gets a family party at home and then we would alternate each year. d1 got the family party this year and it was so much fun. Unfortunately, the only picture I have is of the cake (from my phone) because I left my memory card for the camera in my laptop. On my desk. At work. And remember....I work 45 minutes from home (for another 14 days) so there was no 'running over to get it' business. Anyway, I cooked a big meal for the extended fam and after d1 opened his presents, we headed outside to play. Great times! Here's the magnifying glass cake:

Then on d1's actual birthday, we took him and a friend to a Greenville Drive baseball game (after an IHOP breakfast dinner - his FAVORITE!). There was really no watching of a baseball game, but mostly playing in the playground. Guess it would have been more fun (and cheaper) for us to have taken them to a park but oh well. Live and learn! After the game was d1's first time having a friend overnight and it went great. They were so tired, they climbed in the tent and were OUT!

No pictures of d2. He was probably lost again.....

I'm glad d1 had a great birthday! It is so hard to believe he is 6!! Wasn't he 3 when we met you guys??

You did a great job on the cake.

It's hard to believe he's 6! Seems like just yesterday that I was getting baby pictures in the mail! I came across some of Dagen's baby photos the other day, when I was reorganizing the laundry room (aka crafts, scrapbook, photo storage area), I forgot just how light his hair used to be! Enjoy these days, because with each passing year they seem to go faster and faster. Before you know it your firstborn will be off to middle school and you'll be enduring the joys of puberty. ;) I swear it was just last week that Nicholas was turning 6 and in kindergarten.

You are such a good mommy to do all this in the midst of all the house stuff! The cake (and the green ants) is great:)
